What We’re Looking For

Led by a team of successful entrepreneurs, VPL is growing significantly and is looking for a Director of Talent to join the People team, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The Director of Talent will manage both talent acquisition and human resources. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work across the organization to ensure we are optimizing our current and future people strategies, programs, processes and systems to drive growth, productivity and high performance. The ideal candidate will be excited to find great people, get them onboard smoothly and make sure they’re happy, challenged and continuously developing in their careers at VPL.

What You’ll Do

Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and manage VPL’s end-to-end talent acquisition strategy and process
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, create strategic talent plans, forecast and determine appropriate budgets
  • Build and execute effective recruiting strategies to engage the best and the brightest talent
  • Lead a team responsible for the full-cycle hiring process – including drafting role descriptions with hiring managers, marketing open opportunities, proactively sourcing candidates with skills and values alignment, screening and managing candidates through the interview/selection process ensuring a positive and seamless candidate experience, preparing offers, assisting in compensation negotiations
  • Lead all sourcing strategies, building talent pipelines for current and future job openings
  • Develop programs and maintain relationships to directly source candidates through social media, recruiting fairs, higher education institution, agenies, marketing programs, etc
  • Develop metrics for the team to ensure effectiveness of talent strategies
  • Partner with Marketing in establishing the VPL employment brand in the hiring marketplace

Human Resources

  • Work closely with our PEO to administer human resource policies and procedures regarding staffing, compensation, benefits, immigration, employee relations, training and health and safety
  • Prepare internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, policies and ensure all human resource paperwork is completed and properly documented
  • Develop, manage and administer the new hire onboarding experience
  • Devise and implement career development, training and mentorship programs to cultivate our people and give them the tools to advance in their careers
  • Streamline performance management and 360 processes across the organization
  • Assess external labor market conditions and competitive positioning for salary and benefits
  • Develop diversity and inclusion hiring programs across all departments

What You’ll Need

  • 8+ years experience in talent acquisition, human resources or similar experience, ideally in a high growth and/or technology organization
  • 4+ years experience in a leadership/management role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or other relevant field of study
  • Demonstrable experience managing full-cycle recruiting and employer branding initiatives
  • Solid understanding of sourcing techniques and tools
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems and HR databases
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional work ethic, judgement, attention to detail, analytical skills, negotiation skills, and superior problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions
  • Ability to hit the ground running and take ownership of project areas quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to foster long-term relationships (with internal teams, external partners and candidates)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing environment

Bonus Points

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or other relevant field of study
  • HR Certifications and professional affiliations
